U-M Health continues to offer a choice of vision plans to meet the needs of team members and their families.

Even if you have 20/20 vision, an annual eye exam checks the health of your eyes, vision, and can detect arising health issues. Your ophthalmologist can be the first to identify a serious health condition, including diabetes and high cholesterol, during a routine eye exam. The plan provides eye exam, lenses, and frames for you and your covered dependents.

Remember that if you participate in a health care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA), you may be able to use your funds on eligible expenses.

Vision coverage highlights:

  • Don’t need contacts or glasses? You can put your allowance towards sunglasses or ready-made-non-prescription blue light filtering glasses.
  • Frame allowance is offered at Walmart and Costco as well as your vision provider’s office.

 

BRONZE VISION PLAN HIGHLIGHTS

  • $10 copay for annual exam
  • Lenses – every calendar year
  • Frames – every other calendar year
  • LightCare ready-made non-prescription sunglasses or ready-made non-prescription blue light filtering glasses: $130 allowance in lieu of prescription glasses or contacts
